History is fascinating especially when we are afforded a behind the scenes look at famous people and events.  Nothing is more intriguing than the challenges faced by our US Presidents…men who either rose to the occasion of their office…or failed to do so.

US Presidents: From Awesome to Awful utilizes an expert opinion poll developed by the authors and widely accepted as the standard for rating presidents to rank the best and worst three consecutive presidencies.  It is rare for successful presidents to follow one another into office, so three in a row is even more unusual.

The authors noticed a trend that is tied to the men and the historical events that tested their mettle.  On two occasions, three consecutive presidencies proved successful where another time, three presidents proved to be less than adequate when dealing with the problems of their day.  While not always in agreement with the unbiased results of their own poll, the opportunity to report on the status of presidents and their perceived place in history proved to be a spellbinding exploration into the men and times that shaped our nation.

About the Authors

Douglas Lonnstrom
Dr. Lonnstrom has taught at Siena College for close to 40 years and served as Head of the Quantitative Business Analysis Department and Dean of the School of Business. Along with Professor Thomas Kelly he founded and co-directed the Siena College Research Institute since its inception ins1979. He and Professor Kelly created a presidential tracking system, which is the basis for this book and set the standard for presidential ratings.
